Jasmine & Jake :: University of Maryland Wedding

I was so fortunate to photograph two weddings at the University of Maryland College Park in 2019.  As I mentioned before, my parents met and were married at Memorial Chapel in 1973 so this particular location has a special place in my heart.

The Couple

Jasmine and Jake radiate pure joy when they are together.  They are genuine and humble and an absolute inspiration to be around. The two were first introduced while both attending college at the University of Maryland, College Park.  While Jasmine was a cheerleader and Jake on the basketball team, they met and began their love story!  Over the next six years and several moves for Jake’s NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers and currently the Minnesota Timberwolves, their bond grew stronger.  Jake proposed in July of 2018 and they planned their wedding for the following July at the place where they first met and fell in love.

The Wedding

The temperature on the wedding day was close to triple digits, but that in no way hampered the spirits of this wonderful couple.  They read a special note from each other privately before the first look and were married by the priest who had known them from their university days.  They also invited their pastor from their church in Portland to assist with the ceremony.  The day was filled with pure emotion, love in all it’s forms and a strong focus on family.  Jasmine and Jake are the epitome of joy and true love!

The Reception

What an awesome celebration!  The reception was held at The Hotel at the University of Maryland.  We snapped a few sunset photos on the rooftop terrace before heading to the party.  The room was completely transformed by Shannon Adams of Sera Bella Events!

Not only were the couple and their guests so much fun to be around, but the vendor team nailed it!  Thank you for having me celebrate with you!
